Birch Tree Wall Stencils

I've been eyeing on this Birch Forest stencils from Cutting Edge Stencils for a while and just waiting for the right project. When they had a promotion right before the holiday, I couldn't resist. It reminded me of the Cole and Son Wood wallpaper. So I did it in gold for a feature wall in the guest bedroom. I picked up the "Tiger Eye" paint from Martha Stewart. What I like about this stencil is it doesn't show your imperfections. It actually looks more natural as tree trunks are not perfectly straight.

Christmas Decorating: Modern Gold and Silver

Since we will be away for Christmas and New Year, we are not planning to decorate this year. But if we are, I have "Gold and Silver" in mind.

Mila has been saying "Santa" to all Christmas related items, from the actual Santa to Christmas trees. So I drove to the closest Christmas tree lot on Friday and looked for the smallest Christmas tree they have. And this is what we ended up with {just slightly taller than her}

Gold and Silver Dining Room

This is the first room I did in the house but I'm dragging when it comes to finishing it. The window treatment came with the house. It's a bit traditional for me and I'm planning to replace it in the future; however I like the gold and silver combination as of now. I want to add some type of storage underneath the mirror. Either a wall mounted cabinet like this (mounted horizontally) or a buffet. So many options in the market and I couldn't make up my mind on it. I welcome any ideas!

For a while, I did not know what to do with the old built-in TV niche above the fireplace. I was thinking of closing it up and doing a feature wall with this tile (beyond my budget). Or covering it with a large mirror or artwork (finding an artwork with a right scale and aesthetic is quite challenging). So when I saw this moose head, I immediately fell in love and know it will work for that nook.

We were in Sonoma this past weekend and got a chance to check out the Cornerstone garden. Have you been there? It's a very cool place with shops, galleries and wineries. But the best part is their garden installation created by world's leading landscape architects. Definitely worth to visit!

Taipei - Hotel Eclat

We were in Taipei for the past 6 days and stayed at a boutique hotel, Eclat. I'm very impressed with the overall ambiance and decor. Really love their eclectic style. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend staying there if you visit Taipei. I'm always a big fan of these linear marbles but they can get very pricey.

Then I saw these travertine looking hardwood floor from Lauzon. Not sure about the price, but if you are not a fan of stone and would rather have hardwood instead, this could be a great alternative. Equally gorgeous!

Inspiration for Mila's new room...

Mila had to give up her nursery room recently. Dad works from home now and need a real dedicated office space. So we decided to move Mila to a bigger room (guest room). As she's getting more mobile, she can roam around better in that room. I haven't done a lot to the room other than moving her changing table and placing her artworks (she's no longer in crib and decal had to stay and eventually to be removed). So I'm thinking to spruce up her room with these little additions, nothing major.

I wasn't able to take much pictures from this trip. But here's a highlight of our trip. I was pretty occupied with Mila most of the time but I'm blessed that she was pretty easy the whole time.
