Modern Kitchen Project

We recently updated a kitchen. To keep the cost down, we are leaving the countertop and appliances as is. We replaced the flooring, added a backsplash and painted the cabinets white. This is what the kitchen looked like before...

Mila's Abstract Art

While most young girls like pink and purple, Mila's favorite color is Green! She has been asking to repaint her room green or replacing the headboard green or how about just the button on the headboard. Well, I told her that we can add green colors to her room in form of artworks and objects for her built-ins. So I have been saving these finger painting arts she did a while back and I got a chance to purchase these green Ikea frames over the weekend. She helped me putting them up and to see that huge smile on her face afterwards....is priceless.

Mila's Built-ins

We recently installed a pair of built-ins in Mila's room. Her room had these nooks on both sides of the window. Before we had her changing table on one side and bookcase on the other. Now that she's potty trained and her collection of books and other items have grown, we feel a built-in fits perfectly in her room.

Fabric Letter

We just installed built-in bookshelves in Mila's room (will share pictures next week). I found this tutorial on how to make your own fabric letter. This is a great quick project to add personalization to your kids room and the whole project only cost me less than $5 (thanks to Jo-Ann's coupons).

Updated Guest Bedroom

This gold birch wall bedroom just got a facelift! We scored this vintage end table from Craigslist and painted it Kelly Green. The hardwares were from OSH and they added so much character to it! Headboard was from Target for $230. What a steal for the look!

I've been wanting to do a Kelly Green and Indigo Blue color combination in interior spaces and this is a perfect application for it.

Hope you enjoy it!

Master Bedroom Updates

Added nailhead trim to this bench.

The armchair is from HomeGoods. It actually swivels.
I love these sputnik wall sculpture from Two's Company. It's the steal version of Jonathan Adler's C.Jere urchin sculpture.
 Have a great weekend!

Product Review: Grandin Road Secretary Desk

After spending wee hours searching for the perfect secretary desk with the right scale and budget, I finally chose Grandin Road secretary desk. For $299, this desk is pretty sturdy and provides ample of storage for it's size. I also love the curvy legs.

Guest Bathroom makeover under $250

We just completed a bathroom makeover under $250 and here's the before and after pictures. We left the paint as is and artworks are from private collection. We use the Rustoleum cabinet transformation in Federal Gray (the actual color is lighter than shown on pictures). The shower curtain was made using SS Foliage Mandarin fabric.

Studio Apartment Challenge

Recently I was given a challenge to furnish a studio apartment on a small budget. Due to her tight schedule, she'd like to purchase the key items from one store. The studio comes with a built-in desk/bookcase/shelving. She also has her own dining set she would like to keep. Well, instead of sending her to IKEA, I chose Urban Outfitters and this is what I came up with.

Peony wallpaper will go to the wall behind the sofa. It adds a right amount of color and pattern to the space. The elegant Ava tufted sofa is also a sleeper which converts to a bed at night. Madeline chairs are added for extra seating. To add a little luxury, gold accents are brought in through the Vintage floor lamp, Brass Tiered pendant shade, and Metal Accordion side table. Every room has to have textures, so I chose the Flokati rug and Waterfall ruffle curtain. The Hairpin coffee table is a perfect addition to bring warmth and nature to the space. Have a great weekend!

Birch Tree Wall Stencils

I've been eyeing on this Birch Forest stencils from Cutting Edge Stencils for a while and just waiting for the right project. When they had a promotion right before the holiday, I couldn't resist. It reminded me of the Cole and Son Wood wallpaper. So I did it in gold for a feature wall in the guest bedroom. I picked up the "Tiger Eye" paint from Martha Stewart. What I like about this stencil is it doesn't show your imperfections. It actually looks more natural as tree trunks are not perfectly straight.

Gold and Silver Dining Room

This is the first room I did in the house but I'm dragging when it comes to finishing it. The window treatment came with the house. It's a bit traditional for me and I'm planning to replace it in the future; however I like the gold and silver combination as of now. I want to add some type of storage underneath the mirror. Either a wall mounted cabinet like this (mounted horizontally) or a buffet. So many options in the market and I couldn't make up my mind on it. I welcome any ideas!
